National Trades Survey Last updated: May 2026
This page is a plain-language overview. Full details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
In brief
| Topic | Our approach |
| Survey answers | Voluntary; analysed in aggregate with others |
| Completing the survey | No contact details required — you can finish anonymously |
| Your name, email, or phone | Optional — only if you separately opt in after completion or via contributor recognition |
| Reference email vs updates | Separate choices — a reference receipt does not sign you up for future emails |
| Linking identity to answers | Not for public outputs; contact is kept separate from answers |
| Website analytics | Vercel Analytics — aggregate page visits only; no survey content sent |
| Error monitoring | Sentry — reliability diagnostics only; no intentional PII |
| Advertising pixels | Not used in Stage 1 (no GA4, Meta Pixel, or LinkedIn Insight Tag) |
| Selling your data | We do not sell identifiable respondent data |
| Accounts | No account required for the core survey |
How participation works
You may land on the site, complete the survey at your own pace, and finish without sharing contact details. Optional deeper questions are available in some paths; you can skip them.
If you choose, you may later:
- Email your completion reference — a one-time receipt (not ongoing communication)
- Opt in to future findings / updates — separate checkbox
- Leave contributor recognition details — on a separate page for eligible sessions only
Your completion reference code is a participant reference and share-attribution token. It is not your name or a personal identity document.
What we collect
Survey responses — how you relate to the trades, location and demographic bands you choose, outlook and experience questions, and optional written comments if you continue.
Limited technical information — what we need to run the session reliably and protect against misuse, plus optional non-personal campaign tags if you arrived via a shared link.
Optional contact — only if you opt in: email, optional name or phone, and your consent to that specific purpose (reference email, future updates, or contributor recognition).
Analytics and monitoring (Stage 1)
We use privacy-conscious website analytics (Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate usage — such as page visits and referral patterns. We do not send survey answers, names, emails, phone numbers, postcodes, session IDs, completion codes, or free-text responses to analytics providers. Sensitive query parameters are stripped from analytics URLs where possible.
We use Sentry for error monitoring and reliability. It may receive route, status code, browser/runtime context, and non-PII error context. We do not intentionally send survey answers, contact details, or free-text responses to Sentry.
We do not use Google Analytics (GA4), Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or other advertising pixels in Stage 1.
Where data is stored
Survey and application data is stored in Supabase. Transactional reference emails are sent through Resend when you request them. The site is hosted on Vercel.
What we do not do
- Require contact details to complete the survey
- Treat a reference-only email as consent to future updates
- Sell email or phone lists from the survey
- Publish identifiable individual results (“this person answered X”)
- Tie your optional contact details to your survey answers in public outputs
- Send survey content to analytics providers
Aggregation and published results
We combine many answers before reporting. We take steps to reduce the risk of identifying individuals in published outputs. Where a breakdown would reflect very few people, we may combine, suppress, or withhold it (small-cell suppression).
Optional contact and incentives
Sometimes we offer optional incentives or follow-up contact. Eligibility may depend on factors explained on the page at the time. Completing the survey does not require opting in, and your answers still contribute in aggregate if you skip contact or are not eligible for an incentive.
Partners and sponsors
Where we work with partners or sponsors, we intend to share aggregate insights — trends and patterns, not individual contact details or identifiable answer records tied to you.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the platform and participant information, including secured hosting, access controls, and separation between contact and answer data.
Report security concerns to: security@in-formius.au
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Survey material may be retained for analysis relevant to the survey wave and longer in de-identified aggregate form. Contact details are kept for the purpose you agreed to, then removed or archived according to our practices.
Your rights
You can:
- skip optional contact
- ask privacy questions or request access, correction, or deletion of contact information you provided
- contact us with concerns, and refer unresolved privacy complaints to the OAIC
Because answers are kept separate from optional contact details, we may not be able to find a specific answer row without information that risks re-identifying you. We will explain options honestly.

Future features
We may add optional ways to register interest in programmes, tools, or credentials. If we do, separate terms will apply. Additional analytics tools may be introduced in a later phase with an updated policy.

Our posture
We are an independent initiative, not a government census. We aim to earn trust through plain language, optional contact, aggregate reporting, and honest limits on what any digital system can promise — including the fact that we use aggregate analytics and error monitoring, but not advertising trackers, in Stage 1.
We intend to honour participant trust with integrity, restraint, and responsible stewardship.
